Daniel Ricciardo replaces Nyck de Vries as AlphaTauri’s driver

Last week, the Alpha Tauri team announced that Daniel Ricciardo will be replacing Nyck de Vries as one of their drivers for the remainder of the season. With ten races so far this season, De Vries has failed to score any points for AlphaTauri. This being his first season in F1, it came a shock to many people that AlphaTauri halfway through the season changed drivers.

For Ricciardo, this will be the first time that he has raced in the last eight months after a disappointing season last year with McLaren. On the recent news, Riccardo stated ā€œI am stoked to be back on track with the Red Bull family!ā€ With the Hungarian Grand Prix coming up next weekend, we will see if Ricciardo will be able to get more out of the car than de Vries was able to.

Constructor’s Champion Standings:

With the Hungarian Grand Prix coming up this weekend, here is where we stand 10 races in the Constructor Champion Standings:

  1. Red Bull - 411 points

  2. Mercedes - 203 points

  3. Aston Martin - 181 points

  4. Ferrari - 157 points

  5. McLaren - 59 points

  6. Alpine Renault - 47 points

  7. Williams - 11 points

  8. Haas - 11 points

  9. Alfa Romeo - 9 points

  10. AlphaTauri - 2 points

F1 CEO confirms number of sprint races in 2024

F1 CEO Stefano Domenical recently stated that the amount of sprint races will remain at six races for the 2024 season. There are plans to have an announcement in September to share which races will have the sprint races for the 2024 season.

Upcoming updates are to be released to the 2024 sprint races in the upcoming months. Domenical stated ā€œThere is a proposal that I would like to make, in line with the concept of the ā€˜Grand Slam’. It is that drivers who take the two poles and the two race wins over the weekend should be recognized with something extra, which represents well the sporting enterprise they have achieved.ā€
