This past Thursday, Fernando Alonso ended up signing a contract extension with Aston Martin for the next two seasons.

The two time F1 champion will stay until the 2026 season where there will be new technical regulations and start its Partnership with Honda.

Since joining Aston Martin last year, Alonso has had a lot of success, having six podiums in his first eight races in 2023.

Aston Martin’s F1 team principal, Mike Krack, stated “Fernando has shown he believes in us, and we believe in him. Fernando is hungry for success, driving better than ever, is fitter than ever, and is completely dedicated to making Aston Martin Aramco a competitive force.”

F1 Announces 2025 Calendar 🗓️

F1 this past weekend ended up releasing the calendar for the 2025 season. A few changes about the 2025 calendar versus the 2024 calendar:

  • Australia will be the opening race instead of Bahrain

  • Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will return to being run on Sundays

  • Hungary and Belgium swapped rounds with Hungary being the last race prior to the four-week summer break

Below is the calendar for the 2025 season

Andretti F1 team pushing to join in 2026 đź‘€

Earlier this year in January, Andretti Global was denied entry to join F1 for the 2025 & 2026 season. F1 stating that they would neither be competitive nor contribute commercial value to the sport.

Even with the news, Andretti just announced last Wednesday that they formally opened its new Silverstone satellite factory in plans to use it as the European base for its F1 team.

Andretti plans to meet with the F1 committee in the upcoming weeks and has stated that many American sponsors have shown interest in working with the team amid the ongoing growth of the sport in the United States.

“They are just sitting there waiting, they’re excited about what we’re doing. It’s also something that’s never been done before. We’re going to be an all-American team with a car built on American soil, an American engine, American driver, American ownership.”

Williams exploring options outside of Sargeant 🔎

Reports have come out that Williams Racing is considering other alternatives to Logan Sargeant ahead of the 2025 season.

In the 2023 season, Sargeant had yet to qualify ahead of teammate Alex Albon and this year has gotten off to a rough start. With zero points so far this season and crashing during practice time in Japan this past race.

Along with that, there was controversy during the Australian GP where despite Alex Albon crashing his car, the team decided to put Albon in Sargeant’s car for Saturday and Sundays race.

Team president James Vowles has backed up Sargeant up to this point but his future with the team isn’t guaranteed.
