Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Results 🏎️

This past weekend we saw the last race of the 2023 F1 season. Max Verstappen won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and in doing so is the first driver to lead 1,000 laps in a single F1 season. Verstappen now has 54 wins which has moved the third on all-time wins list behind Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. Below are results from the race:

Drivers that DNF - Carlos Sainz (Ferrari)

Other things to note:

  • Yuki Tsunoda was driver of the day after a career’s best start at P6. He finished P8 and lead the race for 5 laps.

  • Carlos Sainz had to pit on lap 56 with 2 laps to go which dropped him out of point contention.

  • Aston Martin had both drivers finish in the top 10 in the drivers championship. With Fernando Alonso finishing in the top 5 for the first time since 2013.

2023 Driver & Team Standings đź“Š

Coming into the final race of the season, the fight for 4th place in driver standings came down to the wire. With there being a 6 point difference between P4 & P7, Fernando Alonso ended up placing P4. Outscoring his fellow teammate by 132 points this season.

Also, with Carlos Sainz DNF this past weekend, Mercedes barely edged Ferrari to finish P2 in the team standings by 3 points.

Williams not set on re-signing Logan Sargeant đź“ť

With the season coming to an end this past weekend, Logan Sargeant’s future is uncertain with the team yet to re-sign the rookie American driver.

The team has monitored Sargeant’s performance who has had a tough rookie season posing an 0-22 record versus fellow teammate Alex Albon in qualifying.

Principal James Vowles stated after Abu Dhabi, “We’re not in a position to comfirm that at this point in time. The main thing I want him to be aware of, is I’m proud of the steps he’s made.”

If Williams is to re-sign Sargeant, he will have to improve from this past 2023 season with only scoring 1 point for their team this year.
